SOS Children's Village CSR Visit

Giving back to the community is an important part of every business or organization. As part of our CSR program for 2016, some of the staff from the Alba hotels Meru visited the SOS children’s Village located on the outskirts of Meru on the 20th December 2016

The SOS children’s village is a place that provides a home for orphans and children who have no care givers. It provides them with their basic needs of food shelter and clothing as well as an opportunity to get an education. It also ensures that they are provided with health services, counseling and psychological support, as well as care and assistance for families affected by HIV/AIDS.

Once we arrived at the village we were welcomed by the head of administration who introduced us to the rest of the staff. We were then shown around the village where we got an opportunity to meet the mothers as well as the children. Each of our staff members adopted a household and is supposed to follow up on their well being from time to time.

We got an opportunity to interact with the children as we presented them with the gifts we had brought them; which included food stuff, clothing items and toiletries. They were very grateful and happy for all the gifts and we later cut and shared the Christmas cake we had brought them, then we said our goodbyes.

The visit to the village was a very touching and inspiring experience, seeing what the community was doing to ensure that all the children had a safe place to call home and a chance to lead a normal life. It was an honor to be a part of such an inspiring place and we look forward to engaging in more activities with them in future.
